Indian Classical Dance - Bharatanatya

Dance is an expression of one's inner energy, intense feeling and creative intellect. In India dance is perceived in a much more bigger and higher dimension by our ancient RISHI LORE. Natya Shastra, an ancient treatise on dance has evolved dance and drama (Natya) based on 4 Vedas namely Rig Veda, Yajur Veda, Sama Veda and Atharvana Veda. Hence it is called as Panchama Veda, a sacred text with spiritual dimension. Indian Dance is universal in its approach and yet deeply rooted in Indian Mythology and religion. No wonder, dance in India is a path of Sadhana, self unfoldment to attain a holistic personality of Bliss and Peace within. Although dance is a performing art at its source, it is purely contemplative and a synonym to meditation. That is why dance is proclaimed Brahmananda Sahodara Brother of Bliss) by Bharata Muni, the author of Natya Shastra.
